Typically in this situation, people make a very fast judgment about you, either consciously or subliminally, based on the quality of your card. Is it beautiful? Is it printed on both sides in full color and on heavy stock? Does it have a nice finish? They are basically thinking, “Did this potential vendor spend some time and effort to ensure their card is a high quality representation of themselves? If they did, then perhaps they too are a high quality provider of a product or service I can use.” People really do make these subliminal judgments and it often takes less than one second.

While other materials like brochures, letterhead or post cards can be very valuable marketing tools, the last thing anyone is likely to throw away is your business card. Don’t underestimate the impact of a well designed, well printed business card.
